Jesus is at the heart of life at St Bede’s. We pray that He will guide us to be happy, love one another and always do our best.
Our mission statement helps to remind us that Jesus is always with us. It challenges us as a school community to look after each other and to use the gifts that God gives us to the fullest.
Below you will see how the children put Jesus at the heart of life at St Bede’s:
Cool to be Kind
From the 31st of October to the 18th of November we have been focusing on kindness. We have been thinking about the kind things that we do and say as well as realising the impact that this can have on others. During this time, we have made kindness posters, taken part in a sticker challenge and have written a whole school kindness promise.
On the 14th November, we took part in a national assembly as part of World Kindness Day. Here we learned that kindness not only helps others but it also helps us too by making us feel happier and healthier.
Eco Theme
Throughout September, we have been thinking about how we can look after our world a little better. All the classes took part in a range of activities focused on the school Eco Pledge.
- Build on work from last year and focus on the whole school Eco pledge
- Explore the theme of stewardship through prayer and reflection and work in class
- Spend time with nature in our outdoor environment
- Learn about litter through the presentation from South Tyneside Council
- Improve our allotment with each class taking charge of a planter
- Learning about good stewards including David Attenborough (caring for animals and their habitats) and Maximilian Kolbe (caring for others)
- Setting up an eco-committee for ongoing eco work in school throughout the year
- Thinking about how we can care for the environment at home and also within our immediate classroom environment as well as outdoors
- Exploring how we can care for each other as we are part of God’s Creation
- Updating our Eco pledge
Eco Pledge
We, the family of St. Bede’s, promise to do our best to care for our beautiful world.
To switch off lights, turn off taps, fill up pages.
To look after our environment: picking up litter, planting flowers and trees.
To reuse and recycle wherever we can.
To speak up and speak out to make things better.
Together WE will make a difference.
Together we WILL keep our world a wonderful place.
MacMillan Coffee Afternoon
On Friday 28th September, Year 6 organised a coffee afternoon in order to raise money for Macmillan. It was a hugely successful event and they were busy serving tea, coffee and cake all afternoon.
Thank you for all your amazing support!
