Online Safety

Keeping your Children Safe Online

It is possible that children may come across things online which are inappropriate for their age and stage of development. Tools such as parental controls can help to protect your children from accessing inappropriate content, but you cannot check everything they see on the internet. The first step is to have regular conversations about what they do online and encourage them to talk to you if they see anything that upsets them.

What to talk about

They can come to you if they see anything that upsets them
The importance of respect for each other and the meaning of consent

Top tips/tools to use

Parental controls on home broadband
Content lock on mobile networks
Safe search on Google (& other browsers) and YouTube; child-friendly search engine
